What began as an answer to one
company's transportation needs evolved into a solution for many companies'
transportation needs.
C.R. Sarno, Inc. was founded in 1985, as owner Carmine Sarno's
response to a need for transportation for another business he owned. Doing
business as M&S Trailers, Carmine's transportation company consisted of a
few tractors and a fleet of sixty storage trailers.
The storage trailer business flourished into the 1990s, when a
long-time customer inquired about extending the storage trailer service to
include freight transportation as well. Carmine agreed, carrying the same
approach to customer service from M&S Trailers to C.R. Sarno's freight
services. Over the coming years, Carmine focused on the growth of the
trucking operation, both supplementing his existing customer base and
courting new customers throughout New England.
By the end of the 1990s, C.R. Sarno's services had extended
throughout the Northeast and beyond, requiring the purchase of the fleet's
first sleeper-equipped tractor. The growth of the company resulted in
another change, as the freight operations were now consolidated under the
M&S Logistics name.
Growth continued into 2000, when Carmine began construction on a
new facility in Hooksett, New Hampshire. C.R. Sarno's operations relocated
to the completed garage and office in late 2001. In addition to expanding
its fleet over the next few years, M&S Logistics began offering brokerage
services to its customers in order to offer transportation services across
the continental United States.
During this time, Carmine and his wife Jill, in cooperation with
pastors and associates at their church in Belmont, NH, were instrumental
in organizing the Trailer Ministry. Through M&S' connections with office
furniture brokers through the Northeast, loads of surplus office furniture
have been donated to charity.
In 2004, M&S Logistics expanded its range of services once again
through the acquisition of Page Street Leasing, LLC, a Candia, NH-based
company specializing in storage container and trailer rentals. The summer
of 2004 also saw a move for the company as M&S Logistics' operations staff
relocated to Page Street's facility in Candia, NH.
Continued growth of the fleet and the addition of key personnel in
the brokerage division led to the formation of M&S Global Transport, LLC
in 2006, with the intent of enhancing M&S' existing brokerage services.
